Background
Nyamata Level 2 Teaching Hospital is secondary level hospital and has been operational since March 2002. The hospital is a property of ADEPR granted by PMU Inter Life, a Swedish organization. As a district hospital, it operates under rules and technical regulations edited by Rwandan Ministry of Health (MoH). The management is mixture as both ADEPR and the Government of Rwanda have collateral duties and responsibilities.
The Ministry of Health representing the Government of Rwanda (GoR) intervenes especially in terms of hospital staffing, performance based financing (PBF), supervision, and monitoring and evaluation activities. The hospital has developed strategic and constructive partnership with different projects and institutions like GF, CDC-COAG, Imbuto Foundation and Bugesera District through Community Health Based Insurance scheme Management, etc.
Because of the level of change at Nyamata hospital there is a need to correctly implement health interventions according to established norms and procedures, which satisfy the health system’s clients and maximize health outcomes without creating health risks or unnecessary costs.
The hospital provides health care services to 434,668 habitats of Bugesera District and other neighboring districts. It supervises 15 primary level health centers and one prison dispensary located in its catchment area. The hospital currently receives 80% from Bugesera District and 20 % patients from other nearby districts. The hospital boasts a total of 202 staff including 12 general practitioners and 5 Specialists (see the following table); it has a bed capacity of 210 beds.

Dr. SEBAJURI Jean Marie Vianney
Director General
Dr. SEBAJURI Jean Marie Vianney is the specialised Obstetrics-Gynecology Consultant from the University of Rwanda from 2018. He has also got a Bachelors of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) in the same university of Rwanda.
Dr. Jean Marie Vianney has worked in the different places in the area of medecine. He worked for three years as Junior Consultant in ObGyn and mentoring GPs and Midwives in Bushenge Provincial Hospital. He work as Consultant in Obstetrics and Gynecology in Kibagabaga Hospital for two Years.
In October year of 2019 Attending and presenting my research in ISUOG Congress in Berlin with grant for young researchers Publication in Journal of Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
Dr. Jean Marie Vianney has got other skills in computer in using Microsoft Office and other tools like EPIDATA ,SPSS and STATA software.

Mr. HAKIZIMANA Celestin
Director of Research and Education
Mr. Celestin HAKIZIMANA holds Master’s Degree in Public Health from Mount Kenya University and He Specialized in Epidemiology and Disease Control with Clinical Background. He has more than five years of experience in Health systems and he worked in different institutions with different roles especially regarding Quality Improvement, Clinical Education and Research with expertise in guiding development of quality improvement projects. As a Certified Rwandan Hospital Accreditation Surveyor, Celestin HAKIZIMANA supported different hospitals in aligning service quality with Rwanda Hospital Accreditation Standards. Celestin HAKIZIMANA Worked as a consultant Surveyor and Team Leader while conducting Accreditation Progress Assessments in Public and Private Health Facilities. He contributed in evaluating different Research proposals with priceless inputs and guidance in research matters. His Research article was published in Rwanda Journal of Medicine and Health Sciences and its abstract was selected and presented in 3rd National Health Research and Policy Conference. Celestin HAKIZIMANA completed different trainings including training in research basics and methodologies; training in Rwanda hospital Accreditation standards, training in Quality Improvement, Leadership and Customer care; training in HIV service delivery and differentiated service delivery for HIV treatment; training in Vaccine, Immunization, Medical Supply Chain Management; training in Solving Immunization Problems and Vaccine Safety basics; training in inequality monitoring in sexual, reproductive, maternal, newborn, child and adolescent health. Celestin HAKIZIMANA is currently working as Director of Education and Research Unit at Nyamata Level Two Teaching Hospital.
MUREBWAYIRE Marie Grace
Director of Nursing and Midwifery
MUREBWAYIRE Marie Grace is the Director of Nursing and Midwifery at Nyamata Hospital from 2019.
MUREBWAYIRE Marie Grace has a Bachelor of Sciences with Honors in General nursing from the University of GITWE obtained in 2016. She has advanced Diploma in General nursing since 2014; her background is also a Nurse from secondary school since2002 with Professional Certificate of secondary school Level2.
MUREBWAYIRE Marie Grace is a National trainer in Palliatif care and Pain Free Hospital Initiative (PPFHI). She was in charge of Multidrug-resistant Tuberculosis (MDR-TB ) at KIBAGABAGA Treatment Center.
2016-2019, she was in charge of Multidrug-resistant Tuberculosis (MDR-TB ) at KIBAGABAGA Treatment Center.
2006-2016, on patients’ bedsite. Nurse in different department, 3 years in surgery, 5 years in maternity, 2 years in internal Medicine at Kibagabaga Hospital.
She has different trainings:
- Palliative care and pain management
- Emergency trauma care
- Minilaparatomy and Local Anesthesia
- Counseling, HIV testing and take care on the people with HIV.

Director of Administration and Finance
Elie Ntebutsi Semanana is a seasoned financial management and project leadership professional with over fourteen years of progressive experience in accounting, Grant Management , finance, and project administration across public, private, and international non-governmental organizations. He holds a Master of Science in Project Management from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT), Kenya, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Studies specializing in Accounting and Finance from Kigali Institute of Education, Rwanda.
I am, also Certified Health Economics and Health Financing(HEHF), Certified Project Management Professional – PMI-PMP® (2024), Certified Risk Management Professional – PMI-RMP® (2024), Certified Public Finance Management Accountant – CPFMA (2023), Certified Financial Management Sustainability – (2023), Certified Leadership and Governance – (2023), Certified Supply Chain Management during Public Health Emergencies – (2023), Certified Procurement & Supply Chain Management (SCM101) – (2023), Training on EDPRS2 and District Development Planning – (2012), Advanced Entrepreneurship and Business Development – (2013). Mr. HARERIMANA Gaspard
Director of Allied Health Services (DAHS)
Mr HARERIMANA Gaspard is the Director of Allied Health Services in Nyamata Level 2 Teaching Hospital. He holds a Bachelor Degree in Clinical Medicine and Community Health obtained from the University of Rwanda, He was Head of health center for 15 years since 2009 to 2024 as well as Dean of Head of Health center for 9 years since 2015 to 2024 however he was Community health coordination officer for approximately 2years in Nyamata level II teaching hospital since November,2024 to July,2026.
Mr HARERIMANA Gaspard has attended several professional trainings in the career, such as Ultrasound scan, Leader ship and human resource management, Community electronical medical records, Critical care and emergencies management.
Mr Harerimana Gaspard speak fluently Kinyarwanada, English and French.
